How do EnglishTutorsOnline tutoring services work?

Our tutoring services use online meeting software that allows you to see and hear your tutor, as well as any resources, documents, etc. that they may want to share with you on their computer screen. The process is pretty simple, and it’s really effective:
  • Schedule your tutoring sessions in My Account

  • Use the unique meeting URL address we’ll send you

  • Join your live session on your scheduled date and time

Do I need a camera and microphone?

A web camera and microphone make for a very pleasant tutoring experience, but they are not required or necessary. Like normal, face-to-face communication though, being able to see someone’s expressions really help the communication process. If you don’t have a computer microphone, you can call in using your phone. It is highly recommended that you have a web camera and microphone, because these tools will greatly enhance your tutoring experience.

Can I attend a tutoring session on my mobile device?

Absolutely. You’ll need a solid Internet connection, and we strongly recommend connecting over WiFi, but a 3G connection will work. Headphones are absolutely required to join on mobile devices. Please note that, at this time, you will not be able to share web cameras during sessions attended on mobile devices. For more information on how to join using your mobile device, click here.

How secure are your live, online tutoring sessions?

Really secure. The connection between you and your tutor is secured with end-to-end 128 bit AES encryption.


How do I schedule a tutoring session?

Just log into “My Account” and you’ll see the calendar to schedule your sessions.

How do I pay for tutoring sessions?

That’s a great question! As a paying member, you will also be charged for the minimum number of tutoring sessions required for your membership type when you register, and each month thereafter. You’ll be able to schedule your prepaid session(s) from My Account, and you can redeem your prepaid sessions using the coupons we will provide you each month for as long as your membership is active. Novice membership is free, so you’ll pay full price for English lessons. To purchase tutoring, update your Cart to reflect the total number of sessions you want to purchase. If you have monthly membership tutoring coupons, you will use them at checkout.

How long do tutoring sessions last?

All of our English tutoring sessions last 60 minutes (one hour). They start and end on promptly. Your tutor will help keep track of the clock during your session.

What happens if I have to cancel my tutoring session?

You’ll need to give us at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel your scheduled session and avoid being charged for the session. We understand that “life happens.” Our policy is binding and in place, but that doesn’t mean we won’t, occasionally, make some exceptions to the rule. We reserve the right to charge you and issue no refunds for any cancellation that does not provide notice within 24 hours.

How can I cancel my scheduled tutoring session?

Cancellations can be made within your Personal Calendar account (you’ll need to quickly register for that after your first round of scheduling), or you can simply email us and we’ll cancel it for you.


How do I access my membership account?

You can always access your membership account by navigating to the top of any page, and clicking the “My Account” link.

I lost my password and can't log in.

Yep. That happens to all of us. Just click the “Lost Password?” link provided at the “Log in” page and follow the steps.


Do I have to become an EnglishTutorsOnline member to get live tutoring services?

Yes, you do. You can choose from any of our awesome, deal-driven monthly membership plans, or your can just sign up for a free, Novice membership. You can upgrade or downgrade your membership level at any time, at no additional cost.

What are the advantages of becoming a paying member?

The math adds up pretty quickly–you’ll soon see the huge savings you’ll gain by becoming a paying member. You save 15% on all tutoring, proofreading, and English Help Desk services, as well as any other products in our eShop. On top of that, you get some sweet monthly benefits including free proofreading services, English Help Desk ticket coupons, and access to our English Knowledge Base.

How do I access my membership benefits?

Benefits are redeemed through monthly coupons, which you can find in the “My Coupons” tab, located within “My Account.”


Do I have to manually renew my membership each month?

Nope. Your membership will renew automatically every month. You don’t have to worry about a thing.

How are my membership discounts applied?

With the exception of the specific “Proofreading Services” product, your paid membership discount of 15% is automatically applied to all products and services in our eShop. When you’re logged in as a paying member, all discounts are applied to you automatically. To claim your monthly proofreading benefit, simply use the coupon found inside the “My Coupons” tab, located in “My Account.”
